Workshops :: Gas Kiln 101

Gas Kiln stacked for firing
Gas Kiln 101 Workshop: Saturday, May 3, 2008 (10 a.m. - 6 p.m.)

This 1-day $50 workshop provided a cone 10 firing opportunity for the participants. The studio has over 35 cone 10 glazes to experiment with (*glazing technique and recipes will be shared). The stacking and firing of the kiln was discussed/executed as well as some basic kiln designs that were shared and discussed.
Students had to come prepared with cone 10 bisque for test.  It was recommended to throw a deep bottomless ring, one with white clay and one brown.  Andrew usually adds texture with a stamp then waits until leather hard.  Carefully cut into freestanding sections.  You may want to drill a hole in each for stringing/display.  Bring a couple of small pots as well.
